What is Arts Management?

 

  • Arts management (alternatively arts administration) is the field that concerns business operations around an arts organization or cultural institutions.

  • Arts managers are responsible for facilitating the day-to-day operations of the organization and fulfilling its mission (for-profit and non-profit institutions)

No, there are no program pre-requisites.

What types of jobs will this program prepare me for?

 

  • Marketing, program development, program management, administration, fundraising, and other roles in arts organizations

  • The program will help individuals learn critical business skills and enhance their ability to more effectively manage their career as an artist or leader in the arts industry

  • Participants will gain valuable and tangible business and leadership skills that are useful regardless of position

Will this program fit in to my schedule?

 

The program was designed with a busy, working professional in mind.
 

  • The program is online, 10 weeks, and self-paced (with a few required/scheduled interactive sessions with faculty and peers)

  • Program modules are completed in sequence

  • Though no grades will be issued for the program, there are, however, some assignments and group/peer work to assess learning

Who are the faculty teaching in this program?

 

This program is a collaborative effort between UCI’s top-ranked Merage School of Business and national leader, Claire Trevor School of the Arts.
 

  • The curriculum will be taught by world-renown faculty from the Merage School with guest presentations from arts management industry practitioners, and will include real-world examples and cases relevant to the arts industry

  • Participants will also have access to instructors through virtual office hours and any scheduled live webinar sessions

What does the program content/curriculum include?

 

  • The program content will emphasize the skills and values needed to be successful in the creative industries

  • The comprehensive curriculum aligns with employer demand for effectiveness in leadership, marketing, fundraising, finance, critical thinking and decision-making, and decisive administration

  • The program bridges the gap between traditional education and on the job training and is geared towards:

    • Individuals looking to learn practical tools and frameworks to enhance their careers as well as

    • Organizations looking to develop and enhance their teams.

What will I receive at the end of the program?

 

Participants who successfully complete all the program requirements will receive an official UC Irvine Certificate of Completion

Are there scholarships, discounts or payment plans available?

 

Groups of 3 or more registering for the same program are eligible for an additional 5% off each person’s registration

Can the program be audited?

What is your cancellation or refund policy?

 

There are no refunds (for any reason) once the program starts
